Glina is one of our favourite German distilleries right now, and these are our three favourite Glina whiskies.

Rye Whisky, matured in a sherry cask, 5yo: combines the spices and herbal freshness of the rye with the heavy, fruity sweetness of sherry. Perhaps one of the most exiting ryes out there.

Classic Rye Whisky, matured in German oak, sherry and port casks: a very light and easy to drink rye whiskey with an amazing value for money. This is a well-balanced daily dram.

Single Malt, matured in Bordeaux, port, and cherry (not sherry) wine casks, 10yo: a heavy, powerful whisky at cask strength with massive aromas. Immensely complex and challenging but also rewarding, this is easily one of the best German single malts out there – and at a fair price!

Unlike your typical bourbon, this Unblended American Whiskey @michterswhiskey was matured in casks that were previously used to mature bourbon before.
_
The absence of virgin oak gives this whiskey a very reserved character, more subtle and delicate than most bourbon, almost restrained. I would argue it is almost a transition whisky, bridging American style and European style whiskies.

Especially those who are used to Scotch and want to give American whiskey a chance should have a look.

More and more German distilleries offer Rye whiskey, and that is a very good sign. Rye whiskey in general has seen something of a renaissance the last ten years. Even the Scots try to somehow capitalize it (Glenmorangie Spies e.g.). People in Germany love rye bread and they love whisky, so why not combining those two, especially now that Rye whiskey is growing ever more popular?

Nine Springs enters the fray with a most classic rye whiskey. Fans of American Rye will feel right at home with this well executed whiskey. While I personally would prefer a little more independence in developing German Rye Whiskey in the long run this is an excellent starting point. Give it a few more years, a few more experiments, and Nine Springs Rye will be an international powerhouse. We are sure of that.

Until then we enjoy how well the first iteration was done by simply drinking it! A full review will come eventually!

We are great fans of Irish whiskey, the sweeter the better. And this new one certainly delivered in that regard. When the boys @bottlerocketberlin presented us this whiskey, we immediately fell in love. Smooth and gentle, yet full of flavour this whiskey is also complex thanks to a whole array of ripe tropical fruits, toffee, and a good amount of oak spices in the end.

@graceomalleyspirits celebrates its namesake, the Irish Pirate Queen who defied mighty Elizabeth’s Empire. This part of Irish history is worth remembering and drinking whiskey is perhaps the single best choice to do so. Fortunately, their whiskey line-up has something to offer for everyone, from the simply soft and easy sipper that is the basic bottling to amazing cask finishes like this one.
